I checked out a very obscure book in my university’s library once. The last person to check it out was in 1910! It looked brand new even though it was kinda stuck to the shelf. But they were the only one in a century to read it and I felt a kinship with them. Like we’re only ones who get it ✨📕✨

I'm Swedish, but we had the same system I think. Each book had its card, you took the book to the counter, they would take the blue(only top bits) card, put it in their box to note it was checked out and put in a different coloured card(Red I think it was here) and stamp it with a "Due Back" date.
