My mother puts every call she gets on speaker including ones that the recipient would not want broadcasted. The whole time my uncle was dying she would do this, to show how 'important' she was in the process , whilst ignoring everything my uncle was actually saying. It's a narcissistic trait.

A former coworker in the cube next to mine thought the speakerphone feature on his first smart phone was the greatest thing ever invented. It was apparently also handy to check for new messages every 15 minutes. The new message notification was nowhere near as good.

I visited a museum house this week: a 100+ year old home converted to a museum of what life was like back then. Every bathroom had a sign telling people in multiple languages not to use the toilet. I nearly wept that such signs were necessary.
